Recognizable by the two distinctive crests atop its head, this lightly built carnivore could grow up to 23 feet long, making it one of the largest land predators of its time.

❃ Unlike the frilled, venom-spitting version seen in movies, real Dilophosaurus was likely a fast, opportunistic hunter, using its sharp teeth and strong jaws to take down prey. Its long, slender limbs suggest it was built for speed, possibly ambushing smaller dinosaurs and scavenging when the opportunity arose.
